I live in a very small hamlet part of the commune of Vesdun and the village has a monument which marks the geographic centre of France. Our area is very rural, and most properties can come with nice amounts of land but also village and town properties offer more amenities should people wish to have that close by.
The area has many medieval towns and there are always wonderful brocantes and market days to enjoy. The history of the region includes the Jacques Coeur walks, numerous chateaux and pretty gardens to visit. Rural and more undulating to the south, the area is one of the least populated in France and many properties come with lovely parcels of land ideal for quiet countryside living, equestrian pursuits, having a small holding or other rural activities.
The area is very popular for second countryside homes being 3 hours drive south from Paris offering tranquillity within easy reach. It’s also popular with people from other countries and typically 5hrs drive from major ports to the North, and from Belgium and the Netherlands. Just over 1hrs drive south is Clermont Ferrand so skiing during the season is also very close without having to travel across to the Alps.
The weather south of the Loire valley is recognised as being warmer and dryer than the North and the seasons in the area are very distinct. It can get very hot in the summer where air conditioning can be a blessing and very cold in winter with snow and ice when it’s very cold. When spring starts everything bursts into life and with any land you do need to get started promptly!

My husband and I are both originally from Scotland and in 2007 we bought our first home in France. We had searched for a few years and travelled many 1000’s of kms across France eventually finding our perfect place in the south of the Cher bordering the Allier in the Centre Val de Loire.
My husband Alan runs a Carp fishing venue from our property which has a beautiful 15Acre lake, and we bought another cottage adjoining our land about 10 years ago which is now our permanent home. We love the...

My husband Alan runs a Carp fishing venue from our property which has a beautiful 15Acre lake, and we bought another cottage adjoining our land about 10 years ago which is now our permanent home. We love the tranquillity and most properties in this area come with land as it is one of the least populated regions in France. We love the outdoor life, and, in our area, the seasons are distinct, which we adore. When we get a chance, we sometimes camp out on our own land and enjoy relaxing next to the lake, with a lovely cold drink and BBQ. We don’t need to travel to enjoy a holiday!
After working internationally and then like most of us working from home, I decided to start my own business and work with Leggett. I’m a landlord in the UK and have bought, developed and sold properties across the UK and in France and have a passion for property, renovations and am really excited to now be helping others realise their dreams of having that perfect property in France.
I’m an Engineer to trade and therefore problem solving is my key skill – I like nothing more than joining the person to their perfect property and the excitement that it brings. Also helping with the practicalities of a move to a new area or indeed a new country! It’s always nice to help people get started in their new home with good information, as it can often be quite daunting.
I would love to help you find that perfect spot and have beautiful properties across the south of the Cher and North of the north of the Allier in the Auvergne region too.
