About my area
The thing I love the most about the Tarn-et-Garonne department is its greenery, fresh air, and space. So much space ! It’s such a great place to live, especially if you love the countryside, lakes, and rivers. It’s a haven for walkers, cyclists, canoeists, dog walkers, and bikers. You’re never far away from a stunning médiéval stone hilltop village, beautiful château, or wonderful market town packed with history and charm. The history of battles won and lost surrounds you. Richard the Lionheart famously conquered and rebuilt several castles here. A trip to the local market and enjoying a drink or lunch in a stunning medieval village square is a great way to spend a summers morning. Of course, there are large cities too. Montauban ‘the pink city’ has lots to do, some great restaurants and plenty of retail therapy available in between visiting its museums and historic sites. The region is famous for its gastronomy with amazing wine, cheeses and local produce. With excellent air and roadlinks, Tarn-et-Garonne is becoming an increasingly popular area to live and property prices have risen in recent years. The opening of the superfast train service to Paris in 2027 will no doubt push prices up, so now is a great time to invest in the area.
About me
I’ve been coming to the area every year for 35 years to visit my family, until I finally decided to swap a busy life teaching in the UK for the peace and quiet of South West France. Would I recommend it ? Absolutely, 100% . The quality and pace of life is just so much better here. I love the sunshine. I can zoom off on my motorbike and within a few hours be in the Pyrenees, Spain, or the Atlantic or Mediterranean coasts. When I want to venture further I can be in Switzerland by teatime or Italy for breakfast. By joining Leggett I get to see some fantastic properties, explore new places and meet new friends of all nationalities. Would I ever go back to the UK ? Not a chance !
