The nearest town is Chef Boutonne where there is a lovely Chateau with park and fishing lake, open air swimming pool, Saturday market, two restaurants, two supermarkets, three boulangeries, butchers and other small shops.

The River Charente winds its way through the Poitou Charentes and there are plenty of opportunities for kayaking and other water sports. Just under an hour and a half away is La Rochelle, Ile de Re and the stunning Atlantic coast (beautiful coastal resorts to the north and south of La Rochelle). Cognac is an hour away and it's a lovely drive through the vineyards, and Bordeaux, and everything it offers, is just two hours 20 minutes from Chef Boutonne. And if you’d like to travel a little further San Sebastian in Spain is only four and a half hours' drive away!
