About my area
Most of the properties I deal with are in the Haute Vienne department of the Limouisn, although I sometimes spill over the border into the Dordogne, the Charente and the Correze. The Haute Vienne is a largely undiscovered part of south-west France with stunning natural beauty, rich with history and tradition, charming chateaux and ancient churches. The verdant countryside filled with lakes, forests and gentle rolling hills provides everything for the nature enthusiast, including local species of orchid and great bird-watching. This picturesque setting also means that there is plenty to do for those who enjoy walking, cycling, riding, fishing and water sports. Golf is popular here too. For those who enjoy city life, there is Limoges, a charming French city serviced by frequent Ryanair and Flybe flights to the UK. There are many picturesque villages and towns to explore, including some of the most beautiful in France. There is a strong agricultural tradition and a real feeling of community, which extends to the warm welcome visitors receive. People in the Limousin are proud of the fantastic food produced here. Many regional specialities use the excellent locally reared beef as well as the wide variety of mushrooms found here. The liqueurs made from pears, prunes, chestnuts and walnuts are strong and delicious. Puddings are mouth-watering and include clafoutis, local cherries baked in vanilla-scented custard. The chestnut has a special place in Limousin life with particular villages holding fetes to celebrate it! The Limousin could be described as the green heart of France and is truly 'en France profonde'- a beautiful setting in which to holiday or live.
About me
Six years ago, like a lot of people I had grown tired of the daily commute and the wearing pace of life in the UK, so I upped sticks and moved to France with my wife Moraig, two greyhounds and (a recent addition) our seven month old son Barnaby. It has been a great experience and our quality of life has sky-rocketed being surrounded by clean air, open spaces and delicious food. I highly recommend it. Over the years I have had a lot of careers ranging from professional cricketer to bookmaker, petrol station designer to foreign exchange dealer but I think I have found a niche here in France in which I am the happiest - helping to find people's dream homes in the beautiful Limousin.
