About my area
My area covers the iconic landscape of the Causses du Quercy a beautiful classified Regional Park lying between the well-known Dordogne and Lot valleys. This fabulous region has so much to offer from its rivers, valleys, impressive canyons, caves and not forgetting the ‘ Chateaux Anglais’ and typical little French villages all in a region of unspoilt beauty. A journey here takes you from prehistoric time’s right through the Celtic and Gallo-Roman periods up today’s (modern!!) times. Visit the historic sites of Rocamadour, Saint Cirq lapopie, Padirac/Peche Merle and many more. Life can be as busy as you want it to be with activities ranging from walking, cycling,, canoeing, rock climbing, air ballooning and even learning to fly! For those of use looking for the tranquil way of life there’s plenty to avail of as there is so much to discover with so much wild life still protected in the region. This area is also known as the ‘Black Triangle’ as there is so little light pollution which allows for star gazing. It’s all there, just waiting for you to come and explore.
About me
My encounter with this part of France could be described as ‘pot luck’! Having decided that change was needed and with family all grown up and busy getting on with their own lives, I decided to travel. Making Spain the goal I zigzagged down through France and decided to stop off to visit some good friends living in the Lot. My initial weekend visit turned into three years and still counting! Life has taken on a whole new meaning and I’m enjoying a gentler pace of life down here with plenty of sunshine, great food (which my waistline doesn’t forgive me for!! ) and the really lovely genuine people. The cherry on the cake is my new venture with Leggett doing a job I enjoy and working in a region of such natural beauty.
