The town of L'isle Jourdain is a short walk over the river and has a supermarket/fuel station, bank, post office, schools and restaurants and bars. The historic Viaduc spans the river and connects the communities of Le Vigeant and L'isle Jourdain. There are parks, an extensive walking path network, an outdoor municipal swimming pool, a water sports activity centre with cafe/bar on the river, a treetops adventure park and the chance to bungee jump from the Viaduc.

Le Vigeant also offers a cafe and bar and is home to the Circuit du Valle de Vienne, a must visit for car and motorcycle enthusiasts which brings almost year round tourism to the area.

Airports are easily accessible at Limoges (70km) and Poitiers (63km) with both cities offering cosmopolitan shopping, restaurants and cultural events.
