THE LOCAL AREA

This delightful villa is located on the outskirts of a village in the popular Vallée d’Ossau, which extends up to the border with Spain. You can catch the train to Oloron-Ste-Marie and Pau from a village five minutes away. There are also regular buses to and from Pau... and during the skiing season, the Ski-bus travels up to ski resorts in the Pyrénées...

... where you can ski at nearby Eaux-Bonnes/Gourette, Artouste, Val d'Azun and Formigal (Spain). Artouste also has a small open train, which takes you high up into the mountains. For walkers, the GR10 is accessible at Gourette - or join the pilgrims following the Chemin-de-St-Jacques-de-Compostelle, which passes at the end of the lane!

If your interests are gastronomic, you'll love exploring the many farmers' markets throughout the region, where you can sample locally produced Jurançon and Irouléguy wines, tasty Bayonne ham cured in salt from Salies-de-Béarn and fabulous Brebis, (a cheese made from ewes' milk), which is normally eaten with delicious black cherry jam from Itxassou!
